Mezzana

Overview

A small oasis in the Sole Valley

A couple of hours by train or an hour’s journey by car from Trento, Mezzana lies in the heart of the Sole Valley, between the Ortles-Cevedale and Adamello-Presanella massifs and the Brenta Dolomites. It is best known as a ski resort, with 150 kilometres of slopes of various difficulty levels and sections for snowshoeing. In summer, it is a paradise for hikers, who can enjoy the various trails that wind around the village.

In fine weather, energetic adrenalin junkies can go rafting on the Noce River, listed by National Geographic as one of the top 10 rivers in the world (and the only one in Europe on the list) for water sports. The Sole Valley cycle path runs alongside the Noce River: 35 kilometres with a total elevation gain of 565 metres, following old connecting roads and country lanes. The route is not too demanding and takes about three hours to complete.

We recommend strolling through the narrow streets and steep lanes of Mezzana’s historic centre, where you will find stately homes such as the 16th-century Casa Maturi, as well as the small church of Saints Peter and Paul.
