ITALIAN OPEN BNL

Overview

The Italian Open in Rome returns again this year from the 6th to the 19th of May 2024 for its 81st edition.

It will occupy two weeks of the calendar, like the Grand Slam tournaments, with 96 male and 96 female player draws, all the world's best in pursuit of one of the most prestigious titles in the world of tennis.

The 2023 upgrade has practically doubled the draws, transforming the central weekend of the tournament (Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May 2024) into a kind of grand tennis festival.

The great success of the event, which in recent years (not counting the pandemic period) has broken all audience and box-office records (298,138 spectators in 2023), rests on very solid and forward-looking references. First and foremost, the great work of revitalising tennis nationally by the FITP, making Italy now one of the world's major powerhouses in the sport, with a new generation of top players (from Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Sonego to Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti and others) that promises to maintain its prominence at the highest level for at least a decade.

Finally, the relationship with BNL (official sponsor) has been improved and renewed until 2028.
